The Importance of Education for Girls

The governor of Bengo province, João Bernardo de Miranda, visited The School for the Teachers of the Future (EPF Caxito) in Bengo at the beginning of November. He met the students, including 68 women.
“I am very happy to see such a considerable number of females attending the school, this is very important”, João Bernardo de Miranda said. He also appealed to the female students to go out and get jobs as teachers in order to encourage others women to enroll, showing by example that it can be done.

The increasing numbers of females who have graduated or are studying at the 12 ADPP teacher training schools have an great effect, particularly in the rural areas where they carry out their teaching practice and on graduation often find employment. Since 2007, ADPP Angola has achieved good results from its efforts to increase the percentage of women on the teacher training courses.  The overall percentage of female
students has increased from 22% in 2007 to 42% in 2010
