A new School for the Teachers of the Future in Londuimbali in Huambo is on its way

With financial support from the Provincial Government in Huambo, ADPP is in the process of building a new School for the Teachers of the Future in the municipality of Londuimbali.  A ceremony to lay the cornerstone took place in March, with the participation from the municipal and provincial authorities, ADPP’s leadership and students from the ADPP schools in Huambo- EPF Huambo, the Children’s School, and Frontline Institute. The cornerstone itself was laid by the Provincial Governor.
EPF Lunduimbali will be the 13th ADPP School for the Teachers of the Future in Angola and the second of its kind in the province. The school will have capacity to admit 135 trainee teachers annually. Upon graduation from the three year education, the students will take up positions in rural primary schools throughout Huambo. The school will have 12 classrooms and the other facilities necessary to educate up to 270 students- two year groups- at one time. The first team of trainee teachers will start in February 2013.

 

Furthermore, the Provincial Government in Huambo has granted funds for a major expansion of the existing EPF school in Huambo, from the current capacity of 90 students per team to 135 per team. EPF Huambo started in 1995 and was the first ADPP/MED teacher training school. As of 2012, it has graduated 735 teachers, most of whom are part of the primary education system in the province.
The outcome of the expansion in Huambo is more and better qualified teachers for the rural areas of Huambo.
